~ Donation will fund a XLR8 Lynchburg Regional Governor’s STEM Academy Student Scholarship.
CTA Consultants, LLC. – an independent public safety consulting firm providing engineering and project management services is fulfilling its mission encourage future innovation talent through a $10,000 contribution to fund a scholarship to the XLR8 Lynchburg Regional Governor’s STEM Academy and support general operations of the foundation. Funds supporting the Regional STEM Academy Scholarship Fund will provide the opportunity for an additional student to attend the academy for their junior and senior year beginning in Fall 2022.
Susan Cash, Director of the XLR8 STEM Academy explained, “when we opened our doors in 2013 the vision was to provide our students with multiple options for success in college and/or post-secondary career opportunities, and provide our local employers with potential employees, which we have been able to accomplish. Since our first graduating class in 2015, our students have earned 383 certificates, 57% attended post-secondary education in central Virginia and 67% of our graduates are working full time in central Virginia. On average, each year, we receive 78 applications for 25 available junior slots for students in the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, and Lynchburg City schools. This donation will provide an additional opportunity for a student to take advantage of the opportunities available to them at the Lynchburg Regional Governor’s STEM Academy.”

XLR8 Lynchburg Regional Governor’s STEM Academy – is the 16th regional Governor’s STEM Academy offering programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (subjects known collectively as “STEM”) for High School Juniors and Seniors in Virginia’s Region 2000/Lynchburg regional area. Located on the campus of Central Virginia Community College – XLR8 offers academic and technical training related to careers in engineering, mechatronics, biotechnology, health science, and cybersecurity.
The donation was received and distributed by the Future Focus Foundation, the 501c3 non-profit partner of the XLR8 Lynchburg Regional Governor’s STEM Academy.
